A Brief about Jade Stone

'Jade' or 'Yu', as it is called in China & Korea, is strictly speaking a generic term for two different gems. So, we can say that there are two types of jade stone i.e. nephrite and jadeite.

  • Nephrite consists of a microcrystaline interlocking fibrous matrix of the calcium, magnesium-iron rich amphibole mineral series tremolite (calcium-magnesium)-ferroactinolite (calcium-magnesium-iron). The middle member of this series with an intermediate composition is called actinolite (the silky fibrous mineral form is one form of asbestos). The higher the iron content the greener the colour.
  • Jadeite jade is a sodium- and aluminium-rich pyroxene. The gem form of the mineral is a microcrystaline interlocking crystal matrix.

Tourmaline is a crystal boron silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. The tourmaline mineral group is chemically one of the most complicated groups of silicate minerals. Its composition varies widely because of isomorphous replacement. Gem and specimen tourmaline is mined chiefly in Brazil and Africa. Some placer material suitable for gem use comes from Sri Lanka. In addition to Brazil, tourmaline is mined in Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Malawi.

Tourmaline is classified as a semi-precious stone and the gemstone comes in a wide variety of colors. It has a refractive index of around 1.61 to 1.67 and a specific gravity of 3.06. Tourmaline has a variety of colors. Usually, iron-rich tourmalines are black to bluish-black to deep brown, while magnesium-rich varieties are brown to yellow, and lithium-rich tourmalines are almost any color: blue, green, red, yellow, pink, etc. Rarely, it is colorless.

Tourmanium Ceramic stones are made out of tourmaline, germanium volcanic rocks and elan rocks by powdering & baking them at very high temperatures.  These stones are further used in therapy devices like tourmanium ceramic heating mats.

WHY WE USE JADE/TOURMANIUM STONE IN THERAPEUTIC MASSAGERS ?

Nephrite jade stone has a density of 6.5 (as compared to jadeite at 7.0), and a specific gravity of 2.90-3.02. Nephrite, unlike jadeite jade (which is considered by many experts to be the only true form of gem-quality jade), is a more common stone found in many areas of the world. This particular nephrite jade is mined in Northern China. Although natural jade color is best described as eggshell white, nephrite appears in a number of other colors, with the green shades being more somber than jadeite, closer to sage or spinach green, and even green so dark as to look black. When immersed in hydrochloric acid as a jade test of authenticity, nephrite jade will have little to no reaction as compared to some stones which are represented as jade (especially serpentine and bowenite, which are softer and react badly to an acid test, as does marble).

The jade is a natural transmitter of far-infrared rays in the same wavelength as from the human body. People believed that jade heals stressed organs and discharges toxins. It is also believed that Jade slows the process of cell aging and has the excellent ability to strengthen the body's natural defenses and healing power. Jade contains vital elements for the human body, such as minerals, calcium, magnesium and water. Some people also talk about hygiea or hygeia stone which is not a natural stone.  In Greek & Roman Mythology, Hygieia (also Hygiea or Hygeia, Greek Ὑγιεία or Ὑγεία, Latin Hygēa or Hygīa), was a daughter of the god of medicine, Asclepius. She was the goddess/personification of health, wellness, cleanliness and sanitation. Hygeia is also used as a composite material in some thermal massagers to produce same type of far infrared rays as is produced by jade stones.

Jade Therapeutic stones uses a stone whose composition is calcium-magnesium-iron silicate. It is because of these important factors and valuable health benefits that Far Infra-red Rolling Massager Bed & 9 Ball Thermal Projectors uses jade massage caps only, in all of our therapeutic products. Using light bulbs and Jade caps produces more effective heat and far infrared rays than conventional methods. With this combination of modern technology and traditional jade healing treatment, you will begin to feel heat travel throughout your entire body while the jade rollers begin to knead out all of your built up tension and pain.
